I am the founder of Misick & Stanbrook, the most distinguished law firm within the Turks and Caicos Islands.  My areas of practice include: civil and commercial litigation; constitutional law; trusts law; banking and corporate and commercial. I specialize in the resolution of disputes, where my training and years of expertise have allowed me to bring a professional edge to a range of high profile and multi-jurisdictional disputes.

I utilise risk reduction and risk management techniques in order to achieve the best outcome for my clients. As an advocate, I strive to understand the business model of my clients so to effectively engage in communication with them regarding their aims and objectives.

Qualifications

I am a graduate of the University of the West Indies and completed the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law in the United Kingdom. I was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1979 and to the Bar of the Turks and Caicos in 1980.

With over 40 years’ experience, I am one of the most senior advocates within the Turks and Caicos Islands.  I have appeared in various appeals before the Privy Council of the United Kingdom and in the courts of the Eastern Caribbean states.

I am a contributor to a number of journals and publications primarily in the areas of company and trust law and a frequent speaker/panelist at international conferences in the Americas on financial services. I am the author of the Turks and Caicos Islands Chapter of International Trust Laws by Glasson; Asset Protection Domestic and International Law & Tactics by Osborne; Laws of Trusts of the Turks and Caicos Islands published in the International Estate and Planning Principles and Strategies and the Chapter on the Turks and Caicos Islands International Trust Laws published by Jordans Publishing Limited.

I am a former Government Minister for the Turks and Caicos Islands and a former member of the Turks and Caicos Islands Legislative Assembly.  Some of the current legislative enactments relating to the commercial law were introduced or shaped by input from me.

I have served on several public and private boards within the Turks and Caicos Islands.

I was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in January 1999 and a Queen’s Counsel in 2000.
