Insolvency

An inevitable by-product of the growth of the Turks and Caicos Islands economy and growth as an offshore financial center has been an increase in the volume of corporate receiverships and liquidations. Much of the work is of an international nature and our attorneys frequently work as part of a global team with other top law firms in multiple jurisdictions.

The firm’s insolvency lawyers have been involved in almost all of the significant insolvency and receiverships which have occurred in the TCI to date. In the immediate past, these include the liquidation of a large international insurance company incorporated in TCI, the receivership of a major Providenciales hotel resort, representation of associated parties in the insolvency of a TCI securities brokerage, the receivership of a TCI-registered Chinese property developer and the liquidation of an insolvent local corporate services provider.

The team’s services include the giving of advice on all aspects of TCI liquidations and receiverships to local and international legal and accounting professionals, the appointment and removal of liquidators and receivers, securing corporate assets, including discreet asset protection, advising on claims by and against liquidators and receivers and on all other aspects of corporate recovery.
